(loved those red shoes.)
Julia was a stunning bride.

Ceremony was held at Heinz Chapel in Oakland.
Julia's parents surprised them with a dove release after the ceremony
Then we walked across the street for some portraits at the columns at Mellon Institute.

After that we were off to the reception at the Pennsylvanian. The setup of the room was simply breath-taking. There was an artist set up in the corner of the room who was painting the reception as it was happening. I thought that was such a unique idea- giving the couple a piece of original artwork from their wedding day to display in their new home. (The image in the lower left hand corner is of the finished painting.)
The first dance:
Jeremy Ganss provided another great evening of entertainment.
The flower girls were pretty tuckered out by the end of the evening.

Julie wanted an urban feel to their couple portraits, so we took advantage of some the glorious dilapidated backgrounds the West End offers:
loved Julie's dress

One of my faves:

Another fave:
Another fave. I love the softness of Julie's shoulder plus the intensity of Hannah's gaze. Captivating.

Some of their friends performed to Michael Jackson's Thriller, and I have to say, it was the best tribute I've ever (personally) seen. They were amazing!
Julie and Hannah- your love is an inspiration. Thank you for having Joanne and me along to photograph your commitment to sharing a lifetime of it together.Ceremony and Reception: James Gallery

A few details from their day:
They chose to see one another before the ceremony so they had plenty of time for portraits and were able to spend cocktail hour with their guests. I *love* when I get lots of time to create beautiful portraits for my clients on their wedding day.

Ultra fun reception (DJ'd by the inimitable Jeremy Ganss), with lots of dancers and a surprise routine to 'Mr. Roboto' courtesy of one of Josh's groomsmen (that first photo in the series pretty much sums up the crowd's reaction: shock, laughter, and lots of photos.)

Reception: Duquesne University Power Center Ballroom

another fave:

I've got to give kudos to Leeann for seeing this stairwell and suggesting we use it for a few shots.
We started walking over to this grate hanging on the wall, and next thing I know, Alyssa is climbing right up there, heels, big dress and all. Gotta love enthusiasm like that (and the images that resulted)!
another fave:
and one of Alyssa and Leeann together:
Thanks for a fun evening ladies!
